A rare Scottish provincial silver Fiddle pattern teaspoon, the terminal with engraved script initials `WSD`, Stonehaven circa 1840 by Alexander Glenny, marked `A.G, S, T, O, N, H, N`, length approx 13.5cm. Note: items of Stonehaven silver that can be confidently ascribed are extremely rare with only a handful known to survive. Only items with this combination of marks should be considered of definite Stonehaven manufacture. This must be considered among the rarest of all Scottish provincial town marks.

Five Royal Doulton large character jugs, comprising `The Guardsman`, D6755, `St George`, D6618, `Porthos`, D6440, `Macbeth`, D6667 (second) and `Mark Twain`, D6654 (second), seven small character jugs, including `Tam O`Shanter`, `Brian Johnston`, limited edition No. `3895` of 9500, and `Falstaff`, and a miniature character jug `The Falconer`, together with two Royal Doulton character teapots and covers and a Toby jug.
"A D.F.C. group of eight, awarded to Wing Commander Paul Michael John Evans, who saw action in Malta commanding 89 (Night Fighter) Squadron Detachment and bombed Tripoli four days before its capture by the Allies; later commanding 239 Squadron operating over Germany, comprising:- Distinguished Flying Cross, G.VI.R., the reverse officially dated ‘1943’; India General Service Medal, 1936-39 (P/O P. M. J. Evans. R.A.F.); 1939-45 Star; Air Crew Europe Star; Africa Star, clasp North Africa 1942-43; Defence and War Medals; Netherlands, Order of Orange Nassau, Officer’s Badge, with swords. Very fine. (8) D.F.C., London Gazette, 25 May, 1943: Recommendation (Flight, 8th July, 1943), Sqn. Ldr. P. M. J. Evans, No. 89 Sqn. This officer has completed 16 sorties from Malta, during which he has destroyed one enemy aircraft and attacked enemy shipping, airfields and transport. One night in January, 1943, he made a highly successful intruder patrol in Tripoli, bombing lorries and attacking road transport with cannon and machine-gun fire and causing numerous fires. Light anti-aircraft fire damaged the aircraft, severing the hydraulics pipe and severely wounding the observer. Despite this, Sqn. Ldr. Evans landed his aircraft, causing negligible damage. This landing was made at night and off the runway, thus ensuring continuous operations from base. Order of Orange Nassau, 7 May, 1947: Wing Commander P. M. J. Evans. |For his important services to the Netherlands Air Transport Services. Commander of the R.A.F. World War I medals: trio, 1914-15 Star, rosette, War and Victory medals (8804 Pte L. Tymm 11 / HRS; 1914-15 Star ( 1182 Pte T. O. Hawker, 11 / HRS). Very fine. (4) Tymm was probably entitled to the clasp on his Star as he proceeded on active service with B Squadron, 11th Hussars on the 15th August, 1914. Hawker served with C Squadron and was wounded at Le Hamel, 31 March, 1918.
A pair of Regency mahogany hall chairs, in the manner of Gillows, circa 1815, with shell carved backs, solid seats on turned tapered and sabre legs. For a pair of matched hall chairs of related design see ChristieÕs, Fine English Furniture, Lot 6, 14th September 2011 ÔThe chair-backs, richly carved with Venus-shell and C-scrolls, reflect the robust George IV French antique style that George Smith promoted with The Cabinet-Maker and UpholstererÕs Guide, 1826. The same patterned back features on a set of similar chairs stamped by Gillows of Lancastor (V. Slowe, Treasures from Abbot Hall, Kendal, Kendal, 1989, p. 6). Grecian hall chairs of related form, with Venus-shell crestings, and featuring the stamp ÔGillows LancastorÕ are illustrated in M. Burkett, History of Gillows of Lancastor, London, 1969, pl. 1l4. Another related pair, painted with a family crest, was advertised by Jeremy Ltd. in Country Life, 22 March 1990. A further pair with almost identical reeded shell backs was sold anonymously, SothebyÕs London, 12 February 1999, lot 132. Shell-crested hall chairs of a related pattern were introduced at the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers (O. Brackett, An Encyclopaedia of English Furniture, 1927, p. 283).Õ

A superb quality Ebony cased Bracket Clock by ``Wightwick & Moss, London``. The 7`` diameter, white enamelled face having Roman numerals and with strike control above the 12 o`clock position. The glazed door to the back revealing the Brass fusee movement, engraved to the edge with trailing scrolls and the makers name ``Wightwick & Mofs, London``. Below the face are shaped fretwork screens decorated with scrolling foliage and to the sides `fish scale` pierced screens that have a Violet coloured fabric backing. The arched body case has a swing carrying handle and stands on elegant splayed bracket feet. 15 1/2`` high with handle up x 10 3/4`` wide x 7`` deep, weight 7.79 kgs. Complete with pendulum but no key.
