A figura está representada de pé, segurando no Livro e no Menino Jesus com a mão esquerda e segurando uma vara na mão direita. Enverga o hábito franciscano cingido na cintura por corda de ponta pendente com três nós - símbolo dos votos de castidade, pobreza e obediência; ostentando cinco triângulos embutidos, simulando remendos; e calçando sandálias. O Menino Jesus adormecido encontra-se representado sentado de pernas cruzadas. Enverga vestes de pastor esculpidas em ponta de diamante, cingidas na cintura por cordão com nó de laçada. Cabeça apoiada sobre a mão direita, assente sobre cabaça, com uma ovelha sobre a perna e bornal a tiracolo. Peanha do tipo canónico com três socalcos. No primeiro, fonte com carranca jorrando água que dá de beber às Aves do Paraíso, flanquada pelas figuras de Nossa Senhora e São José. Segundo socalco, representa ovelhas a pastar e uma ao centro a dormir. Por último, Maria Madalena na gruta, deitada sobre o flanco, apoiando a cabeça na mão direita, e apontando o livro com a mão esquerda, sendo esta a posição iconográfica de Buda na sua Segunda Iluminação. De ambos os lados encontram-se um leão, Guarda do Paraíso e uma ovelha a dormir. Por toda a peanha ovelhas pastam, simbolizando as Almas. Remate inferior decorado com friso de ponta de diamante. A rematar o grupo escultórico, a Árvore do Paraíso (sem ramagens), encimada pelo Pai do Céu suspenso sobre as nuvens, representado com a Bola do Mundo, a Pomba do Espírito Santo e abençoando com a mão direita.
