On y trouve les saints évêques Hugues (9 avril), Nicaise (11 oct.), Romain (28 fév. ; 23 oct., en rouge), et les saints faisant l`objet d`une ferveur particulière à Rouen, comme saint André (30 nov., en rouge ; 7 déc.), saint Thomas de Canterbury, qui était le fils d`un bourgeois de Rouen (29 déc., en rouge), ou sainte Catherine dont quelques reliques auraient été transférées à Rouen au XIe siècle (25 nov., en rouge). , La liturgie des Heures de la Vierge et de l`Office des morts est conforme à l`usage de Rouen et de Lisieux. En revanche, les litanies ne comportent aucune indication susceptible de préciser la localisation et de les attribuer à une église normande particulière. Leur seule singularité est la présence de saint Omer (Audomarus), évêque de Thérouanne probablement né à Orval, près de Coutances dans la Manche. , Décoration., Ce manuscrit contient 2 peintures. Il lui en manque trois qui se trouvaient en tête des Heures de la Vierge, des Heures de la Croix et de l`Office des morts, et peut-être une quatrième avec la disparation probable des Heures du Saint-Esprit, dont nous ne trouvons aucune trace., La décoration de ce manuscrit était donc, dès l`origine, extrêmement rudimentaire, avec une peinture en tête des principales sections. Ce qui surprend est la présence d`une peinture représentant La Nativité en tête de Prime. Il subsiste aussi une seconde peinture en tête des Psaumes de la pénitence, David jouant de la lyre, qui n`est pas de la même main que La Nativité : les dimensions des cadres intérieurs sont les mêmes mais les styles des peintures sont différents et l`ornementation extérieure est beaucoup plus riche pour le roi David., - L, a Nativité (f. 44) : dans une étable, la Vierge nimbée et Joseph sont agenouillés et se recueillent, mains jointes, devant l`Enfant couché sur un lit de paille posé au pied d`un couvre-lit rouge. Dans le ciel, Dieu bénit la scène à travers le toit de l`étable. La peinture est encadrée d`une bordure de feuillage vert émeraude, de tiges portant des feuilles or et des fleurettes rouges et bleues. Au-dessous commence le texte avec une belle initiale bleue rehaussée de blanc, ornée de fleurettes rouges et bleues, sur fond or., - D, avid jouant de la lyre (f. 66) : agenouillé dans ce qui paraît être une excavation dans un champ bordé de rochers ocres et d`arbres, David couronné, vêtu d`une robe rose et d`un manteau bleu pâle, joue de la lyre en regardant le ciel où apparaît Dieu dans un halo rouge. Au-dessous le texte commence par une belle initiale peinte en bleu rehaussé de blanc sur un fond rose. L`ensemble est placé dans un superbe encadrement de rinceaux et de fleurettes d`une belle finesse, sur fond or ; le centre de l`initiale est orné de même. Une bordure entoure la page : proche dans son traitement de la précédente, mais néanmoins plus dense. , Les grandes sections du manuscrits (Ad Laudibus, Ad Primam, Ad Tertiam, Ad Sextam, Ad Nonam, Ad Vesperas, Ad Complectorium, Obsecro te, O intemerata et les XV joys Nostre Dame) sont marquées par une belle lettre initiale (or sur un fond alternativement bleu et lie-de-vin filigrané d`un trait blanc) qui se développe dans la marge en tiges noires avec un léger feuillage or., Le reste de la décoration consiste en lettres ornées et en bouts de ligne s`accordant, quel que soit le module, avec les grandes initiales ornées précédemment décrites (lettre à l`or, fond alternativement bleu ou lie-de-vin), ce qui donne au manuscrit une évidente homogénéité. Les titres sont rubriqués., Provenance. , Ce manuscrit a été utilisé à la fin du XVIe et au début du XVIIe siècle comme livre de raison, ce qui signifie que des événements à caractères familiaux ont été reportés sur le calendrier par ses possesseurs successifs. Ceci permet ainsi de localiser le manuscrit à Cricqueville-en-Auge (Calvados) dès le début du XVIe siècle : 6 jan. " Mardy je prends possession du benefice de Criqueville - 1508 " ; une autre main ajoute : " Lucas " ; 27 févr. : " Ma seur Olive deceda en 1593 " ; une autre main ajoute encore : " Elle avoit este mariee en premieres nopces a Jacques Laisney et en secondes à Jean du Doict de Focqueville " ; sur le calendrier, au mois de février, " Dam[oise]lle Avoic du Gripel femme et épouse de noble homme Noel Eury seigneur de la Fontaine donna ces présentes heures à Me Jean Lucas prêtre curé de Criqueville l`an de grace mil six cent au mois de juin en la journée de lingienye (sic) ", 30 oct. " Dedicatio ecclesie Crique ". , Ces annotations, dont nous ne donnons ici qu`un aperçu, sont complétées sur un feuillet de parchemin ajouté à la fin du manuscrit. Le recto de ce feuillet est couvert d`annotations de la fin du XVe ou du début du XVIe siècle et le verso porte la mention manuscrite A Valognes / le 20 août 1830, / je fus donné à / M. Lebredonchet / vicaire d`Orglan / des. , Ce manuscrit est d`un aspect très agréable et, en dépit de ses lacunes iconographiques et textuelles, il offre un intérêt documentaire sur la vie d`une famille villageoise normande au XVe siècle., Reliure un peu frottée. Le manuscrit a beaucoup servi et certains feuillets présentent un aspect grisâtre ou sali avec quelques taches sans gravité.

Gravé sur un cartel dans la plinthe :" O cher enfantelet vray portraict de ton père/ Dors sur le seyn que ta bouche a pressé !/ Dors, petiot, clos amy, sur le sein de ta mère/ Tien doulx oeillet par le somme oppressé/ CLOTILDE de SURVILLE 1421" Haut. 68, Larg. 20, Prof. 25 cm. Provenance : ancienne collection du château de la Bellière, Maine-et-Loire. La publication en 1803 des poèmes inédits de Clothilde de Surville (1405-1498), poétesse médiévale, suscite une contestation parmi la critique, qui crie à l`imposture littéraire. L`appui de Joséphine de Beauharnais permet de passer outre les suspicions phallocrates. Le plâtre original de cette sculpture est présenté au Salon de 1877 (n°3808, acquis par l`Etat). Il est en dépôt au Musée de Reims. Le Musée d`Orsay à Paris conserve une épreuve en marbre. Le fondeur Barbedienne réalise les éditions dans huit tailles différentes.
