Dating from the 1920’s this pre Hornby example is of nut and bolt construction and is painted in dark green and white livery of the London & North Western Railway, with crest to sides and ‘glazed’. Black chassis with open frames, two piece tin wheels with bolt on brass buffers. Complete with coupling links both ends. GC for age, some wear overall. See Plate 8.

A Pair Cased Repousse Quarter Repeating Pocket Watch, signed Cabrier, London, circa 1770, gilt fusee verge movement, square baluster pillars, enamel dial with Arabic and Roman numerals, outer case with mythological scene and pierced borders, inner case with scroll pierced borders, depressing pendant to operate quarter repeating with two hammers striking a bell inside case, 50mm wide 21.05.13, Outer case with the front bezel springing and not closing correctly, outer case back with the high relief figures worn and some splits to the case back, inner case with some small cracks and dents to the sides, inner case with surface scratches, cases with glasses missing, dial with cracks and chips and a screw has been added next to the 12 o`clock position, later hands, when depressing the pendant the repeat work starts striking but not working correctly at present, movement not working at present, when applying pressure to the contrate wheen the balance starts swinging.

A Cabochon Ruby and Diamond Cluster Ring, the oval cabochon ruby centres a border of sixteen round brilliant cut diamonds, in white claw settings, to a tapered shoulder plain polished shank, total estimated diamond weight 1.20 carat approximately, finger size O The ring is in good condition. The shank is stamped `18CT` and in our opinion it would test as gold. The ruby measures 10.98mm x 9.36mm x 8.71mm. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour J/K/L, clarity SI1/SI2/I1. Gross weight 9.0 grams. CR made 15th April 2013

A Ruby, Sapphire and Diamond Ring, signed `CARTIER`, the three row twist ring comprising a row of step cut rubies in a yellow channel setting, a central row of round brilliant cut diamonds in a white channel setting, and a third row of step cut sapphires in a yellow channel setting, finger size O The ring is in good condition. It bears no hallmark, but in our opinion it would test as gold. It has a worn stamp `CARTIER` on the reverse of the head. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; caratweight 0.25, colour H/I/J, clarity SI1/SI2. Gross weight 5.0 grams. CR made 15th May 2013

It is stamped `PLAT` and `18CT` and in our opinion would test as a platinum setting on a gold mount. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour I/J/K, clarity SI2/I1/I2. Gross weight 5.4 grams. CR made 15th April 2013

A Gilt Brass Grande Sonnerie Repeating Carriage Clock with Alarm, stamped Hamann & Kogh, New York, circa 1890, carrying handle, repeat button, underside of the case with quarters only/silent/full striking sonnerie selection lever, enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, alarm, twin barrel movement with platform lever escapement, striking with two hammers on a bell and a further hammer for the alarm, backplate stamped and numbered 1797, 20.5cm high over handle 28.05.13, Case with the gilding discoloured in parts and with small surface scratches, case with some minor dents to edges, back door bevelled glass with a chip in the top right hand corner, enamel dial with one fine hairline crack from the 2 o`clock to the 10 o`clock position, dial and alarm dial with some very minor scratches, movement needs cleaning, platform has discoloured and needs re-silvering, movement with grande sonnerie striking and repeating not working properly at present and needs attention.

A French Gilt Brass Striking Four Glass Mantel Clock, circa 1890, surmounted by a globe, floral and scroll applied decoration to the corners, 3-1/4-inch enamel dial with Roman numerals, recessed dial centre with visible Brocot escapement, twin barrel movement striking on a bell, movement backplate stamped Marti and numbered 4403, twin mercury tubed pendulum, 37cm high 07.05.13, Case with gilding faded and rubbed in parts, front door bevelled glass with a chip to bottom right hand corner and the inside top left hand side with a chip, bevell glasses with some very minor chips as well, dial with some hairline cracks and some small chips around the 6 o`clock position, movement looks dirty and needs cleaning, striking side of the movement is functioning, pendulum suspension spring is broken.

A Mahogany Chiming Table Clock, circa 1890, carved floral and scroll panels, pierced side sound frets, 6-1/2-inch engraved brass dial with silvered chapter ring and applied Arabic numerals, three dials for strike/silent, fast/slow and St Michael/Westminster/Whittington selections, triple fusee movement with anchor escapement, quarter chiming on a nest of eight bells or chiming onto four gongs and a larger gong for the hours, movement secured by brackets, 57cm high 24.05.13, Case with the top small ball finial missing, top side with some small cracks, case with some small dents to edges and scratches in parts, front of the case with some moulding missing above the right hand side Corinthian column, dial with two small vacant holes below 12 o`clock position which possibly would have had a name plaque at some time, movement looks complete and clean.

A Mahogany Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed John Scott, Edinburgh, circa 1790, swan neck pediment, 12-inch silvered arched dial, seconds, date aperture, arch with strike/silent selection lever and signed, four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack striking on a bell, 215cm high 24.05.13, Case with damage in parts to veneers, later added frets to the hood, hood with finial missing, veneers faded due to sunlight damage, some veneers look stained to the front, dial with scratches and slightly bent, signs of a screw head next to the 4 o`clock position added, later seatboard, movement looks complete.

A Japanese One Piece Carved Elephant Ivory Figure Group, Meiji period (1868-1912), the smiling god of good fortune upholding a rod in his right hand and hauling in his sea bream, incised two character signature and stylied seal mark, 14cm high; and A One Piece Carved Figure of Maiden, circa 1900, the slender young woman with elaborate chignon, gesturing with her upheld right hand and holding a plumage of a ho-o bird, standing on clouds, incised and red pigment rubbed engraved signature, 25cm high (2) Figure 1 - rod broken (no pieces retained) and majority lost, this includes the line which reaches the fish, otherwise figure good. Figure 2 - her thumb on her right hand is missing (piece not retained). There was originally a pouch/inro suspended from her belt. Other minor tiny cracks and chips. 310513

A Japanese Shibayama Inlaid Elephant Tusk Vase and Cover, late Meiji period (1868-1912), the domed and lacquered metal cover embellished with two ho-o birds around a (possibly associated) peony knop, the main body on both sides with birds and insects amongst diverse flowering blossoms, incised two character mark on inlaid C shell kakihan, on four chrysanthemum incised swept tab feet, 20cm high The majority of one bird on one of the fascia panels is missing (apparently some piece/pieces are retained inside but the lid is immoveable?). General losses to inlay. Metalware slightly dulled and one foot bent out of true. Fine crack on basal rim and slightly on upper rim. Not examined cover flange or internally or loose piece inside. 210513

A Group of Six Portrait Miniatures, comprising a lady circa 1800, oval, 4cm, a young woman wearing a rose bedecked off-the shoulder dress, circa 1850, oval, 5.5cm, a little girl with ringletted hair, a gentleman wearing a blue jacket, a stipple engraved portrait of a young woman, and a modern print of a gentleman. all framed, within two trilobed gilt metal frames with ribbon tied crestings, 24cm high Girl with ringletted hair cracked top to bottom, and dusty. Woman circa 1850 with mould blooms on miniature and under glass, and somewhat rippled, metalwork worn. Two printed examples good. Lady circa 1800 with partial loss of left side of her face. Gentleman with small rubbed areas, particularly at 7 o`clock and just off his right cheek. The bevelled glass of both is damaged. Later copper hanging brackets behind the ribbon ties. Fading and damage to velvet lining. Sold a/f. 290513
