SIMEON STAFFORD (b. 1956) Unframed, signed, oil on canvas. Naive busy fairground scene with figures playing, circus characters and rides before `O`Malleys` circus tent. Stafford greatly influenced by L.S. Lowry, a friend of the family, moved to Cornwall in 1996. He has developed a number of recurring motifs in his work, which can be looked out for, such as `Dot`, a young girl cartwheeling across the canvas ( his aunt as a child), `Ruby`, a young girl with pigtails and sometimes a man with red stripy trousers leading a small boy by the hand (Simeon with his son). Previously exhibiting at the R.A. in 2001, Simeon also has his work in the Queen`s private collection. 76cm x 101.5cm. Provenance: Purchased directly from the artist. (ARR)
