A Derby coffee cup and saucer: of faceted form, the interior of the cup and centre of the saucer painted by Zachariah Boreman with figures in river landscapes, gilded with diaper and fruiting vine panels around a blue enameled band, factory marks in puce and pink with pattern number 86, additional painted numeral 4, incised letters O and X, circa 1790. * Zachariah Boreman worked on and off for Duesbury at Derby for several years, finally leaving in 1794.
Jonathan Lowndes, London, a walnut longcase clock:, the month duration movement with five latched pillars striking the hours on a bell, with an outside countwheel, the twelve-inch square brass dial having a raised silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals and five-minute outer markings, with meeting arrow-head half-hour markings, and further half-quarter engraved decoration, signed either side of VI o`clock Jonat. Lowndes, London the matted dial centre with ringed winding holes, a subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture with engraved surround and blued steel hands, the walnut flat-topped case having three-quarter columns to the hood with cast brass capitals, the trunk with cross-banding to the burr-walnut veneered door and a glazed lenticle, with panelled sides, the base with crossbanding to the burr walnut panel, height: 212 cms. * Biography Jonathan Lowndes was a well respected maker working in Pall Mall, London at the turn of the 18th century. He was a member of the Worshipful Company of Clockmaker`s from 1680 and a steward in 1696. A number of his clocks and watches are known in various museums and collections including a number that were in the famous Wetherfidd collection.

Manuscript signature low left and printed signature low right, reverse green and brown, bank office in centre, value and arms at left and right(Pick 43 for type, Ma S23) this date unrecorded in Pick and Ma. Annotation on reverse and ink letter on obverse at left and right. In PCGS holder 12, fine with annotations. An original and fresh example, the paper retaining some strength.
