LOGBOOKS TO A CIVILIAN/RAF PILOT & RELATED EPHEMERA. The Logbboks, YMCA Prisoner of War Journal, MBE award and Queens Commendation award paperwork to Captain Peter E Bressey. MBE RAF. Born on the 21st April 1915 at Hailsham Sussex, educated at Colchester Grammar School. An Engineer Trainee at Croydon in 1933, W/O 1936. He obtained his civilian navigators licence in 1937, his ground engineers licence in 1938. Both are with the paperwork which accompanies the (10 Logbooks). Starting in 1935 and ending in December 1969. His planes included D H Dragon, Monospar, Fokker F12, Vicker Velox, DH86, Wessex, Viestra, HP42, Scylla, Boulton Paull etc in his early years. Serving as a Pilot F/O Peter Edward Bressey in an unarmed DC2 was shotdown when flying over France in 1940, spending some 54 months as P O War. His citation for his Valuable Service in the Air by the Queen dated 10/June /1954 Winston S Churchill PM. A letter relating to the award signed by Sir Gilmour Jenkins KCB.KBE.MC. The IFALPA Gold Medal in 1961. The BALPA Gold Medal in again 1961. The MBE award citation from 10 Downing Street in 1965. The C N Sayan award in 1968. All in an album of photographs, letters and paperwork relating to his long flying career. His earlier flying details stop in his logbook in December 1939, starting again in 1946.He was flying in the Far East before 1940, presumably returned to England in early 1940. Flying Vikings and Viscounts for BAOC during the 1950`s-60`s. Books and related Plane models (2) and large photograph of a Hawker hart. He spent his POW years in Germany or Poland, after his being shotdown over ST Omer on May 23rd 1940. A hand written record of his camps and return, including Stalag Luft 3 at Sagan. An official Parole Card for a walk outside the camp signed by him. His Univ of Cambridge Passes in Sept 1931, etc. His Wartime YMCA Log with notations, sketches and camp money inset.

Pte Christopher Oscar Garland aged 27 years the son of George & Annie Garland of 75 Sutherland Avenue, Maida Vale, London. He died of wounds in Braisne Hospital on the 22/9/1814, of wounds received on the 16th September in the action at Soupir For details see Ruvignys Volume 11.
A 1914/15 TRIO TO A ROYAL ENGINEERS CASUALTY. A 1914/15 Star named to 97643 Sjt J Slight RE. British War & Victory medals named to 97643 W O Cl 11 J Slight RE, all in boxes of issue. John Slight entered the France & Flanders theatre of war on the 7th October 1915. He was Killed in Action on the 25th January 1917, whilst serving as a Company Sergeant Major of the 148 Army Troops Coy RE. He is buried in Aveluy Communal Cemetery on the Somme. The father of Miss Freda Slight, residing at Newcastle Upon Tyne. With a group photograph which includes John Slight in pre war days. His widow is listed as residing at Harepark Yew, Alcombe. Minehead. Somerset.

A EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE YEOMANRY TRIO. A 1914/15 Star named to 1190 Pte P D Peacock E.R. Of York.Y. British War & Victory medals named to 1190 Cpl P D Peacock E.R. of York.Y.. Phillip D Peacock served with his regiment in Egypt from 10/11/1915. After the end of the war he served as a W O Cl 11 with the 812th Area Employment Coy of the Labour Corps. He died in Cairo on the 18/3/1919, buried in the War Cemetery in Plot P Grave 54. His then number was 549259. The East Riding of Yorks Yeomanry were on their way to Salonika when they were diverted to the Egypt-Palestine Theatre of War until 1918. At one time they were seconded to the Anzac then Yeomanry mounted divisions. A Richard D Peacock also served in the Regiment, possibly a relation.
