Manner of Jacob van Hulsdonck (17th/18th century) Still life of a basket of fruit Oil on jointed oak panel, 45cm by 53cm Cleaned and re-varnished - the paint is somewhat thin in the background. There has been strengthening and over painting to the outline of the plum resting atop of the other fruit on the left hand side, to the top section of the left hand side of the basket and further delicate retouching in a horizontal line from here to the left hand side edge, with a panel of retouching following slightly into the ledge on which the basket sits. Very minor and sporadic re-touching running the width of the panel from the left hand side o the right hand side edge of the basket and within the stem and outer leaf on the right hand side. This infilling and retouching in this arrangement is the result of a horizontal split to the panel which has been repaired and restored with a piece of wood being let into the reverse approx 2 cms wide. Small chip to paint just above the top branch. Some surface dirt and and discoloured varnish.
