Alloway Kirk; Or Tam o' Shanter, a Tale, [Glasgow: printed for and sold by Brash and Reid, 1796], [4], 8 pp., additional engraved and printed titles 'Poetry Original & Selected', the engraved vignette title on thicker wove paper and may be from another copy or variant, main title-page with 2 plain swelled rules above and below author's name, quotation beginning "Whae'er this tale o' truth shall read", and with a triangle made up of asterisks beneath the quotation, final word on page 2 is "on:", closely trimmed at lower margin with complete loss of final line from pages 3 and 4 and penultimate line of page 3 trimmed with loss, minor spotting and marks, all edges gilt, modern straight-grain red morocco gilt by Riviere, small 8vo Egerer 32. There are at least four variants of the Brash and Reid edition of 1796. ESTC T130997 locates only two copies of this variant at the British Library and Yale University. (1)

A leg o' mutton type gun case, two leather cartridge bags and two gun slips Condition Report: Leg of mutton case basically good condition. Larger cartridge case has damage to lining and there is some wear to the straps at the sides. Smaller bag basically good. Both cartridge bags initialled. One canvas gun slip and one faux leather, both quite tatty.
