Schreiner, Olive FOUR PAGE LETTER FROM OLIVE SCHREINER TO HER NEICE, BESSIE REITZ ON PERSONAL AND POLITICAL MATTERS IN SOUTH AFRICA WITH STAMPED ENVELOPE London: 1917 The letter was written on Sunday, 11 October 1917 without address but written and posted to Bessie in London. In this warm letter Olive Schreiner touches on personal and political matters including her perception that if the Nationalist Party won the next General Election in South Africa there would "be no hope". She felt the Nats only needed to bide their time in order to win. Bessie Reitz was the daughter of President F. W. Reitz of the O. F. S.
