Peadar Kearney 'The Soldier's Song' First Edition Music by Pádraig O' hAonaigh, arranged by Cathal MacDubhgall. 12¼ x 9¼in. (31.12 x 23½cm) Peadar Kearney worked first as a labourer in Dublin, where he was born and educated. In 1911 he got a job at The Abbey Theatre as a props man where he met Patrick Heeney who helped him score The Soldier’s Song which he had composed in 1909-1910. He joined the Irish Republican Brotherhood in early 1903, and became a member of its Supreme Council. He was a founder member of the Irish Volunteers. The Soldier’s Song quickly became the Volunteers’ most popular marching song and was widely published. It was sung in the GPO during the Rising. In the 1916 Rising Peadar Kearney fought under Thomas MacDonagh at Jacob’s biscuit factory in Bishop Street. He evaded capture after the Rising was put down but was arrested during the War of Independence and interned at Ballykinlar Camp in County Down in 1920-21.Published by Whelan and Son, Dublin, 1916. Composed as a marching song for the Irish Volunteers, The Soldier's Song" was adopted as the Irish National Anthem in 1926.

1923 Drumboe Massacre, letters and ephemera. Two letters (April 7th and 16th) from relatives of victims Daniel Enright and Tim O'Sullivan, to Hugh W. Lean, Lismulladuff N.S., Killygordon, Co. Donegal, acknowledging his expressions of sympathy, with envelopes; together with two memoriam cards and a ballad sheet, printed with portraits of the four victims to each corner. (7) Drumboe Castle, near Stranorlar in County Donegal, became the General Headquarters for the forces of the Irish Free State in County Donegal during the Civil War. On 14 March 1923, four anti-Treaty IRA fighters, Charles Daly (26), Sean Larkin (26), Daniel Enwright (23), and Timothy O' Sullivan (23), who had been captured and held in Dromboe Castle since January, were summarily shot in retaliation for the death of a National Army soldier in an ambush.

(40.64 x 30.48cm) John Dunne (24 June 1893 - 28 February 1977) Volunteer, C Company, 3rd Battalion, Dublin Brigade, Irish Volunteers, served in area of Boland's Mills, Grand Canal Street, under Captain Simon Donnelly. Imprisoned in England and Wales until June 1916. He participated in the War of Independence and was imprisoned in Mountjoy, Arbour Hill and Crumlin Road Belfast, held hostage at Portobello Barracks in 1920 and chained to Black & Tans vehicle driving arounde Dublin in 1920, and was interned in 1921 at Ballykinlar Camp.

A fine sixty-two-plate suji-kabuto dating: 18th Century provenance: Japan Elegant, sixtyt-wo-plate, iron hachi with relieved border; copper tehen with four sections featuring pierced petals at the upper part; mabizashi fixed with three rivets and covered with leather featuring decorations; medium-size fukigaeshi decorated with small, blue cusps; five-blade, black-lacquered shikoro with blue fastening. Round, gilt, wooden maedate (restored hook). Ukebari e shinobi-no-o at the inside. Edo period. dimensions: height 30 cm.
A katana dating: second quarter 14th Century provenance: Japan Shinogi zukuri blade, iori mune. O suriage presumably of a un ko-dachi. It belongs to the late Kamakura, first part of Nambokucho, Bizen school with Yamashiro influences. Gimei NAGAMITSU. Ha watari of 62,1 cm. Torizori. Ko kissaki. Itame hada, mokume and itame nagare, small area of shingane. Hamon of gunome midare, nioi deki with togari, and kinsuji, deep nioi guchi , bo utsuri, more visible at the monouchi. Boshi midare comi, kaeri yoru. Nakago kiri, indistinct yasurime, nijimei, two mekugi ana. Koshirae, red lacuqered saya with gold-lacquered chrysanthemums, leaves, birds and butterflies. Kodogu of good quality. Antique tsuba, maru gata, thinner at the border with Amida yasuri. Copper fuchi and kashira decorated with gold maple leaves and other shakudo elements, menuki shaped as mantis. Tsuka with same and tsukaito.Blade in very good conditions, cleaned by Togishi Massimo Rossi. Provenance: English Auction, Wallis & Wallis, 1991. dimensions: length 84,7 cm.

Late Kamakura, Yamashiro school. Mumei. Ha watari 46,6 cm. Toriizori. Chu kissaki. Hada of o-itame – masame, shingane emerging in many parts, a light notare utsuri at the ura. Hamon di suguba of nie, vanishing at the hamachi. Boshi O maru with hakikake. Nakago kiri, yasurime kiri slightly noticeable. Two mekugi ana. Modern shirasaya made by Federico Lowemberger. Beautiful, silver-leaf habaki, engraved with a water wheel and whirling waters.Blade in excellent conditions, polished by Togishi Massimo Rossi. A rare kilic, gift to the tribal chiefs of the A. O. I. dating: late 19th Century provenance: Eritrea Wide, single-and false-edged blade with wide fuller, engraved and gilt on blue ground with Umberto I, Savoy coat of arms and floral motifs at the first part; Oriental, white, metallic hilt with horn grip scales; wooden scabbard with leather covering and engraved, white, metallic mounts, two suspension rings. dimensions: length 105 cm.
A flintlock gun dating: circa 1800 provenance: Germany Smooth, two-stage, 15 mm cal. barrel. Octagonal at the first part, decorated with raisers and featuring two stamps at the base: the first one crowned and marked I O STEG KEL", the second one depicting a horde; both with brass lining. Round at the second part, with rings and frames at the girdle, provided with foresight. Lock with flat plate, richly carved with a knight holding a gun, an old-fashioned figure and a cannon, a drum and buildings. Wooden half stock (a small restoration at the front) carved with spirals and floral motifs. Brass mounts, richly decorated in bas-relief. An old-fashioned warrior surrounded by spirals and masks; the shield at the neck with a rocaille and a small angel with wings; trigger guard with several animals and spirals. Non-matching ramrod. dimensions: length 140,5 cm.
A cased luxury double-barrelled pin-fire shotgun with double barrels by Peterlongo dating: third quarter of the 19th Century provenance: Austria Two pairs of barrels of fine damask, with rib signed "I. PETERLONGO IN INNSBRUCK" in gold, slightly engraved at the base, with foresight. The shorter ones rifled, the bore in good condition, cal. 14 mm; the longer ones smooth (pitting on the inside), with adjustable rear-sight and silver foresight; long tang finely engraved with floral and geometrical motifs, at the centre a small, oval shield with golden frame; backward spring locks decorated with fine engravings depicting hound, pheasant and foliage; briarwood stock, checkered at the neck, with iron mounts decorated en suite, trigger guard with fawn, the ending portion of the trigger guard made of horn, with double trigger, one of them with set trigger. In its original case lined with green cloth; on the cover an oval plaque with the owner's name "A. Castelli". Keeping most of the tools. For Johann Peterlongo see "Der Neue Stöckel", Vol. II, page 946. The famous gunsmith (1826-1898) owned an arms factory and also used to signed his works as "Tiroler Waffenfabrik". dimensions: length 111.5 o 115.5 cm.
