Second World War R.A.F. Flying logbook named to F/O R.J. Collier, entries begin on 22nd June 1942 with flying training, and continue through 1943, into 1944. On 27th August 1944 F/O Collier is posted to a Liberator Squadron based in Bangalore, he goes on to serve with 356 Squadron completing 35 sorties from his arrival until June 1945, they include bombing raids on the Bangkok railway and on Insein Jail, Rangoon.

* Earl of Ranfurly. A collection of items belonging to the 5th Earl of Ranfurly, comprising British War Medal (Earl of Rafurley [sic] O. of. St. J.),1897 Jubilee Medal with supporting dress miniature award in Wyon case of issue with an enclosure from Lord Chamberlain's Office dated 26 August 1897 inscribed to the recipient, The Order of St John, Serving Brother miniature breast Badge in case of issue, two Victorian commemorative medals including one for Her Majesty's visit to Ireland April 1900, a Victorian court sword, the 79cm straight steel blade etched 'To the Queen Hawkes & Co Piccadilly London, etched with military trophies and foliate scrolls, gilt metal guard and hilt, with gold bullion sword knot, 94.5cm long overall, in its leather scabbard with gilt metal mounts and sword bag, a coatee with tailors label Forster & Sons, Bond Street London, navy blue melton cloth and light blue silk lining, with 4 G.V.R. brass buttons to the right breast and 2 more to each cuff and 2 to the rear, 118cm long, a Victorian great coat, black melton cloth with black velvet collar, red cloth lining and 12 brass buttons each with crown surmounting an royal crest within 'honi soit qui mal y pense' garter and 2 further buttons to the rear, 135cm long plus a similar cape with 4 buttons to the right breast and fastening chain with other related items including sash ribbon GCMG and Order of St John etc (Qty: a carton)Uchter John Mark Knox, 5th Earl of Ranfurly (1856-1933) was a British politician and colonial governor of New Zealand from 1897 to 1904. He was born into an Ulster-Scots aristocratic family in Guernsey, the second son of The 3rd Earl of Ranfurly by his wife Harriet, daughter of John Rimmington of Broomhead Hall, Yorkshire. He was educated at Harrow School and after a brief spell as a cadet on board HMS Britannia left the Royal Navy for Trinity College, Cambridge at the age of 18. Lord Ranfurly served as a Lord-in-Waiting under Lord Sainsbury from 1895-1897, and was knighted as a Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George (KCMG) in 1897. He was appointed as Governor of New Zealand in April 1897 and Honorary Colonel of the 1st Wellington Battalion in 1898 and was created a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George (GCMG) in 1901 on the occasion of the visit of the TRH the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall (later King George V and Queen Mary) to New Zealand. On returning to England he was made an Irish Privy Counsellor in 1905 and in 1914 devoted more time to the Order of St. John of Jerusalem becoming Director of its Ambulance Department. In 1919 the French Government made him an Officer of the Legion of Honour for his services in connection during WWI. See lot 493.
