The ruby measures 9.81mm x 7.54mm x 4.42mm as per the GIA report. The ruby is of pink red colouration. A Brameld bucket shaped breakfast cup with figure 7 handle commissioned by the Dundee & Hull Steam Packet Company. Printed in sage green to depict the Forfarshire Steamer and with the hop pattern border, c.1834 7.5cm. Notes; On 5th September 1838 Forfarshire left Hull, bound for Dundee. At 4 o' clock the following day the ship ran aground. All but 9 perished who were rescued by Grace Darling and her father; the lighthouse keeper, in what became the most romantic sea rescue of the Victorian era. The condition of this example leads us to believe that the cup was recovered from the wreckage of the ship, cf. Rockingham 1745-1842, Alwyn & Angela Cox p. 170-71. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Rim chip and heavy chipping to the foot. Four hair cracks from the rim. Two hair cracks across the handle. Crazed and stained.

Cnut silver penny, Quatrefoil Type, Spink 1157, obverse reads:- CNVT REX ANGLOX ['O' has central pellet], reverse reads:- +EDMVND ON NOR [The first 'O' is actually of 'horseshoe' form, there is a die-sinker fault in the first quarter where he initially cut the top segment of the quatrefoil in the wrong position, this reverse die being very new and still exhibiting stratifications across its field. The cataloguer knows of 13 others but again none from this pair of dies. Almost certainly from the 'Cambridge Hoard', full, round, as struck Mint State.
