Filipino school circa 1920-30. Probably Fernando Amorsolo Escuela filipina c. 1920-30 . Probablemente Fernando Armosolo (San Fernando de Paco, Manila, 1892 – Quezón, Filipinas, 1972). "Campesina. Boceto", óleo sobre tabla, 21x18,5 cm. Firmado con iniciales. Amorsolo es uno de los artistas más conocidos y valorados de la historia de la pintura filipina. Con 13 años entró como aprendiz en el taller de su tío el pintor Fabián de la Rosa y en 1916 se marcha a Madrid a estudiar en la Academia de San Fernando becado por el empresario Enrique Zóbel de Ayala, padre del pintor Fernando Zóbel. Una vez instalado en Manila, entre los años 20 y 30, pinta las imágenes más optimistas y coloridas de su producción: paisajes rurales, retratos de costumbres, sobretodo campesinas -conocidas como "Dalagang Bukid" en honor a "Angelita", la protagonista de la película filipina "Dalagang Bukid" dirigida en 1919 por José Nepomuceno- y tipos tradicionales, etc. "Las mujeres que pinto deben tener un rostro redondeado, no del tipo oval que a menudo se nos presenta en los periódicos y en las ilustraciones de las revistas. Los ojos deben ser excepcionalmente vivos, no el tipo soñador y soñoliento que caracteriza al mongol. De la forma contundente pero firme y fuertemente marcada... Así que la belleza filipina ideal no debe ser necesariamente de tez blanca, ni de color marrón oscuro del típico malayo, sino de la piel clara o de un tipo de color fresco que a menudo presenciamos cuando nos encontramos con una chica ruborizada ". .

An exhibition standard Model Triple Expansion Reversing Condensing Marine engine, built by Mr K W Williams of Doncaster to the O B Bolton design as uprated by J P Bertinat, with cylinders â…žth. 1 ¼ & 1 ¾ inch bores by 1 ¼ inch stroke, cylinder head pressure relief valves, drain cocks and pipes, IP valve spindle tail shaft guide, main steam inlet valve, hand wheel and worm gear operated Stephenson's link reverse, frame incorporated slipper-type crosshead guides, LP crosshead driven air pump, six main bearings with oilers, disc drive wheel, rear frame mounted condenser and pipework, cast sole plate, pressure display board with four mounted gauges. The model is finished in red paintwork with polished brightwork and having ladder with gantry on check-plate floor. Glazed display cover. Model Length 38cm. Height 28cm. * This model was exhibited at the Midland Model Engineering Exhibition 1991
