1990 Martin Johnson playing for New Zealand U.21 International Rugby Team (3) : A surprise to some, a lovely official team photo and two programmes from England & Lions skipper-to-be Johnson's NZ rugby-education stay Down Under with King Country. As the 14" x 11" mounted picture (damp-affected to the right edge) shows, he played for the NZ Under-21 team touring Australia, and there is also a programme pair, against Argentina and North Harbour, with, between them, an article on him, his team line up and no fewer than four pictures. Different! O/wise G. (3)
1937 S Africa Rugby Tour to New Zealand souvenir publication: Taranaki Rugby Almanac Springbok Souvenir brochure - special publication to commemorate the visit of the mighty South African tourists to New Zealand c/w the original pictorial wrappers - a mine of information covering all the tours from 1888 onwards - some slight discolouring to wrappers and to the edge of the pages o/wise clean. 1971 British Lions v New Zealand Rugby Programmes (4): all 4x tests from that great series won by the Lions 2-1 with 1 drawn. Large issues for the clashes at Dunedin (a little wrinkled and rubbed), Christchurch (VG), Wellington (Exc, scores to centre) and Auckland (a host of tiny indents to cover and faint stain to spine area of first few pages, o/wise good). A desirable set from the only winning Lions series against the All Blacks. £375 from a leading UK dealer.
1989 British Lions 3rd Rugby Test in Australia Programme: Large colourful issue with some of the better content from this Lions trip, where they came back from 1-0 down to win the series with a 19-18 verdict in this test, after Ieuan Evans had caught out Campese's error. Minor colour patch loss back cover, o/wise good edition from a memorable match.
