A good Maison Millet Louis XV style ormolu-mounted kingwood and quarter veneer satine desk, Paris, circa 1890, probably Theodore Millet, centred and surmounted by a seated infant guerrier over a timepiece, the twin-train 8-day movement stamped S Marti,  et cie 1889 no.1351, striking on a bell, with white enamelled dial, five drawers below centred by an open niche over a gilt-tooled leather writing slide over three frieze drawers, flanked by twin candelabra and seated cherubs, raised on mounted slender cabriole legs to sabot toes, approx. 117 cm w x 72 cm x 140 cm h o/a Provenance: acquired between the wars by grandparents of the current vendor good, complete, original and unrestored, the ormolu dull, dirty and patinated, the surface of the timbers showing signs of wear through careful use, colour faded, dull and dirty, the leather writing surface same but structure sound showing no evidence of worm or other damage, the clock movement dirty, complete and original, the enamel dial chipped around both winding holes, hinged bezel and glass ok
