The diamonds and emeralds are free of any major chips but do have slight abrasions when viewed under close magnification. Shank is in good condition and bears a full set of hallmarks for London 1973. A Twentieth Century black vanity case with a fitted interior and lined with green satin, contents not complete but the lot does include a silver-backed hand mirror, two silver-backed brushes, a pair of tall and slim silver-lidded glass bottles, a cologne bottle with blue enamel lid, two case hair combs and a rectangular lidded pouch, the top of the case embossed in gilt with the initialed "L.M. B-O.", with brass fittings and catches, overall dimension 51 cm x 36 cm x 19 cm.

Sechskantige Pfeilvase. Bronze. Ming-Zeit, wohl 16. Jh. Von typischer Form mit bauchigem Korpus, in den sechs durch Stege unterteilten Feldern springende Fabeltiere in hohem Relief. An dem sechseckigen Hals, um den sich ein Drache windet, zwei ebenfalls sechseckige kurze Röhren, dekoriert mit gegossenen archaistischen Ornamenten.Solche Vasen, genannt touhou, mit jeweils zwei oder auch mehreren röhrenförmigen Applikationen an der Mündung dienten dem Pfeilspiel, das eigentlich ein Trinkspiel bei Banketten war. In früher Zeit wurden Pfeile in hu-förmige Vasen geworfen, ab der Tang-Zeit wurde der Hals dann um zwei Zylinder ergänzt. Zwei kniende Spieler mussten ihre jeweils zwölf kurzen Pfeile in die drei Öffnungen werfen und der, der die meisten Treffer hatte, hat gewonnen. Ming dynasty, probably 16th century The sectional globular body supported on a tall foot is subdivided by flanches into six panels with running fabulous animals in high relief, the neck encircled by a dragon and the mouth flanked by hexagonal appendages decorated with archaistic ornaments in relief.The arrow vase is associated with a very ancient game called touhu and in ancient times was played during and after banquets and drinking gatherings. Two or three contestants aimed short wooden arrows into one of the tree openings. Higher points were awarded for arrows thrown into the side openings, which was presumably more difficult than aiming for the central receptacle. The looser was made to drink a cup of wine. Set consisting of 95 titles (leaflets and volumes), printed in Paris in 1814, referring to the political and military events that took place in the French capital during that year. It is recalled that, among other events, Paris was the scene, at the end of March, of the Battle of Paris, which culminated in the occupation of the capital by the coalition forces, composed of Russian, Austrian and Prussian troops. Following this defeat, Napoleon was compelled to sign the Treaty of Fontainebleau and then to his first exile, on the Isle of Elba. There followed troubled months of political and constitutional discussions, some of which degenerated into heated controversies, well represented in the group.
