Foreign Service Helmet Attributed to Major the Honourable A O W C Weld-Forester MVO, ADC to Viceroy of India and Served with the Grenadier Guards in WW1, Died of Wounds Received 1914, fine example of an officers white foreign service helmet with its folded pagri, leather backed brass chin scales and short red over white feather plume. Green felt underlay to the interior with its original leather sweatband and cloth lining. Interior crown with tailors details of “W CATER & CO LONDON”. Housed in its original japanned storage tin, named to the front “HON: A. O. W. C. WELD FORESTER”. Remains in good overall condition. A account of his career can be found which states the following, “Arthur Orlando Wolstan Cecil Weld-Forester died at King Edward VII Hospital, London on 1 Nov 1914, from wounds received near Ypres, Belgium, on 29 Oct 1914, having gone out with the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards. He was the fifth son of Cecil, fifth Baron Forester and Baroness Forester, of Willey Park, Broseley, Shropshire, and was born in London on 13 July, 1877. He was a major, aged 37, commanding the King's Company. Arthur was educated at Harrow, and joined the Grenadier Guards from the 3rd Shropshire Light Infantry (Militia) in Dec 1897, becoming a Lieutenant in Oct 1899. With his battalion he served in Malta, and subsequently, under Sir Leslie Rundle, in the VIIIth Division through the Boer War, receiving the Queen's medal with three clasps and the King's medal with two clasps. He was promoted Captain in the 3rd Battalion in Jan 1905, of which he was Adjutant from Jan 1907 to 31 Dec 1909. From 1910 to 1912 he was ADC to Lord Hardinge, Viceroy of India, and was awarded the MVO for his services in that position during the visit of King George V. In 1912 he obtained his Majority, with the command of the King's Company of his Regiment. Major Weld Forester was a member of the Guards' and Turf Clubs, played cricket and golf, and was fond of hunting and shooting. He is buried near the south-east corner of the St John the Divine churchyard, Willey, Shropshire.”.

Scarce WW2 British Tank Crew Helmet Worn by a Member of the Polish Armoured Corps, black fibre tankers helmet with front padded section. Centre of the helmet has original white painted insignia of the Polish forces. Leather sweatband and cloth lining straps to the interior. Remains of a paper size label to the sweatband. Underneath the sweatband is WD stamp with date letter “O” for 1942 and also ink name “Solecki Z.B 22151”. Good example.
Falklands War Argentinian Marine Steel Combat Helmet with Camouflage Cover, fine example of an Argentinian steel helmet with its separate liner system and well worn camouflage cover as issued to the marines on the Falkland islands. The cover has the original label “EJERCITO ARGENTINO O/C No INO-0203 UZAL S.A. TALLE: UNICO”. The helmet shows heavy service wear.

A George III Irish silver oval salver, maker's mark JL, Dublin last quarter 18th century, with a beaded, pierced and engraved rim, engraved with a floral swag band, a crest and a shield within swags and pendants, on four anthemion bracket feet, 24.5cm (9 1/2in) long, 330g (10.6 oz) The maker's maker attribution is uncertain and could be John Laughlin, Junior; John Lloyd, Senior or John Locker. The arms belong to Richard O'FARRELL Esqr. (1729-1790), who in 1751 married the heiress Letitia O'MORE only surviving daughter of James O'MORE (died 1779) of Balyna Co. Kildare and Mary nee MADDEN. After their marriage the family adopted the family name MORE-O'FARRELL.One of the issues in identification is that the arms of Richard O'FARRELL use the crest of the O'MORE family in preference to their own crest, which is blazoned: issuant from ducal coronet a greyhound courant. The item may as a result may be intended for use by Mary O'FARRELL nee O'MORE. Her father James O'MORE was the last male descendant of the family to use the O'MO(O)RE name. The O'MORE family are the last descendants of the Lord Leix. They are an ancient family of Ireland and substantial landowners, notably descendants of the family as MORE-O'FARRELL held the Balyna estate until 1960. The family were identified as being associated with the 1641 Irish Rebellion. A £1 error note, series D, Jo Page, serial no.A55 479777, the error within the note is shown as an 'O', which is within the printing shown under the front of the crown embedded in the hair of the Queen, unusually this error isn't documented and therefore believed to be highly scarce, also a collection of six Jo Page cashier £1 banknotes still in the three Lambert & Butler refund wallets (6). CONDITION REPORT Error note: Lower left corner two small fold lines, no pin holes, feels crisp, but not uncirculated. Does not appear to have any other fold marks.Lambert & Butler issued notes: Still crisp from issue, no creases, no pin marks. Some slight discolouration towards the left edge, which appears to have come from the paper wallet.

An 18ct yellow gold sapphire and diamond circular floral set ring, size N1/2 and a further yellow metal sapphire and diamond ring stamped 750, size O, approx 6.7g (2). CONDITION REPORT Both sapphires are very dark indeed, the diamonds are too small really to grade or comment on, but you can see through a loupe that they are heavily included. Light surface scratches to both bands.
