Sqn Ldr O W Epton signed special cover SC13b The Comet Evasion Line RAF escapers cover. Sqn Ldr O W Epton was captain of the Dominie XS730 who flew the cover when it was taken on the Southern Ferries MV Panter to San Sebastian and by courier to Bayonne. It was then carried across the border into Spain and subsequently to Gibraltar, whence it was flown on a training flight to the UK. 3 PTA Spanish stamp postmarked San Sebastian Guipuzcoa 13 Sept 75 stamp. A second half of the 18th century fob seal, with a bloodstone panel carved with a swan above a ducal cornet, with the initials FK, in a scrolled and reeded setting, panel 1.4cm long; the second with a foiled paste carved with a scrolled EHR, in a reeded floral setting; and an early 19th century and later rock crystal and seed pearl locket brooch, the pear shaped panel with an applied O and seed pearl set coronet, on later knife edge bar brooch, 4.6cm long; 18.1g gross Fob 1: Crest from the arms of the KEPPEL family of Hurst Barns Farm, East Chillington, East Sussex. They were ennobled as the Earls of Albermarle in 1697. The title Viscount Keppel was also used by the younger son of the family until 1786. This seal is possibly the property of Hon. Frederick KEPPEL (1728-1777), Bishop of Exeter, the 4th son of William van KEPPEL (1702-1754) the 2nd Earl Albermarle.
