A Service of Victorian Silver Fiddle and Thread Pattern Flatware, Chawner & Co (George Adams), London 1882, comprising: 6 table spoons; 12 table forks; 18 dessert spoons; 12 dessert forks (one later matched example Sheffield 1993); 10 teaspoons; 6 egg spoons; a pair of salt spoons; a mustard spoon; a pair of sugar tongs; a pair of sauce ladles; and a basting spoon, all engraved with the initial S, 137oz 8dwt (71)
Nameplate ERRIGAL ex Great Northern Railway (Ireland) Class S 4-4-0 built by Beyer Peacock Manchester in 1913 as serial number 5628 and numbered GNRI 170. It was transferred to Córas Iompair Eireann ownership in 1958, the loco was withdrawn and the nameplate offered for sale by The Ulster Transport Authority. The official receipt for £15 accompanies the lot. Curved engraved brass with original wax filling to the letters.(See next lot.)
Great Eastern Railway Sykes Lock and Block mahogany cased instrument for PARK with brass plaque makers plate W R SYKES. Park signal box was later renamed Northumberland Park in 1923. This instrument was retained at the Stratford S&T store and was purchased by the vendor when it closed. In original condition and appears complete, rare to see a GER instrument of this type.
GWR mahogany cased 18inch double dial railway station clock. The large plated brass chain driven fusee movement has all the internal motion work present for the slave dial and is in good clean working condition. Both dials have been repainted during the 1930's with the GWR roundel design logo and the original mahogany case with segmented surround still retains its original GWR ivorine numberplate 944. A substantial and rare timepiece in excellent working condition complete with pendulum and key.
Original oil painting on board Chee Dale by Carl Henderson GRA. Painted in 1994 the painting shows the down Midland Pullman passing Chee Dale near Buxton in the 1960's on its journey from St. Pancras to Manchester Central. The train would have passed this site at about 6pm and this is depicted by a late, low, intense sun which gives a golden glow to the sky and long shadows. Painting size is 39in x 25in and the frame size 43in x 29in. Included is a letter from the artist giving details of the painting, an article from the Yorkshire Post showing the painting on display at the 1996 GRA exhibition at the NRM and an artist review from Railway Magazine.
A collection of late 18th century Caughley ceramics, each in the Dresden Flowers pattern, comprising: two reeded tea bowls & saucers, a coffee cup & saucer, a sucrier and cover, 12cm tall and a sauce tureen and cover, 14cm long, 'S' mark to some pieces. Condition Report: Chip to rim of the square tureen, gilt loss and rubbing evident elsewhere.No other apparent damage or restoration.
A Royal Vienna twin handled oval bowl, having hand painted reserves in a gilt border, on a cobalt blue ground, 23cm wide, together with a Sevres covered bowl and a S Hancock & Sons Corona Ware 'Cherry Ripe' patter vase. Condition Report: 15cm tallNo chips, cracks or restoration.Minor gilt loss in places to the Vienna bowl.
A circa 1970's Omega Genéve Dynamic automatic wristwatch, the two colour dial bearing baton numerals with date aperture at 3 o'clock, to a black leather strap, together with a conforming lady's Omega Dynamic wristwatch to a blue leather strap. Condition Report: Both dials need a thorough clean. The dial on the gents watch also has damage to the minute chapter ring. Hands in good condition. Cases and watch glasses slightly scuffed commensurate with age. Both Omega leather straps are broken.
Five pieces of late 18th century Caughley ceramics, each in the 'Fly' pattern, comprising: a tea bow & saucer, reeded coffee cup & saucer and a teapot stand, 15cm diameter, 'S' mark to the base of some items. Condition Report: No apparent damage or restoration but gilt loss and rubbing throughout.
A late 18th century Caughley tea bowl & saucer in the Mother and Child pattern, together with a similarly decorated Worcester saucer (crescent mark to base) and two Caughley tea bowls, also in the Mother and Child pattern, 'S' mark to the base of one Caughley bowl.
