Patience Scarr was the daughter of George and Emma Scarr and she was born on 17th June 1811 and registered at Richmond. Bainbridge is a village in Yorkshire, sited on the river Bain.

A George III silver swing-handled sugar basket, maker's mark 'R S', probably Robert Sharp, London 1795, the shape of the punch is in an oval-shaped punch and not a cusped punch that is recorded in Jacksons, of shaped oval form with reeded handle and border, engraved with a bright band and vacant cartouches, worn, the base engraved underneath 'Fountain County', 12.7cm long, 8.5cm wide, 9.2cm high, together with a pair of antique silver bright-cut engraved sugar tongs, by Hester Bateman, stamped with lion passant and maker's mark, 14cm long, 6.1ozt (2) 'Fountain County' could relate to the Fountain County which lies in the western part of the USA state of Indiana, east of the Wabash river. The state was granted statehood in 1816. The county was named after James Fontaine of Kentucky, who was killed at Harmers defeat (modern day for Wayne) on 22 October 1790 during the Northwest Indian War.Condition report: The basket with general knocks, scratches, wear and rubbing. Hinges ok. Evidence of solder repair to seams. Tarnish and discolouration. Tongs generally in fair order.See additional images.
