John Dickson & Son A scarce 12-bore assisted-opening side-lever round-action ejector gun, no. 5255 29-inch Damascus barrels with 2 1/2-inch chambers, about improved cylinder and 1/4 choke borings, top extension, the round action, trigger plate and sidelever with acanthus scroll engraving and retaining some original hardening colour, the makers name signed within a scrolling banner, 14 3/4-inch figured replacement stock cast for central vision, nitro proof 6lb. 8oz. The makers confirm that the gun was built in 1900. Originaly built with conventional stock dimensions, only the triggerguard ha "s been altered to accomodate the new stock and it would restock to conventional measurements without difficulty.

"Now the fair Goddess, Fortune, Fall deep in love with thee, Prosperity be thy page", c.1880's, watercolour, heightened with bodycolour, signed, approx. 9 x 14.7 cms., mountedEmily Gertrude Thomson was a Manchester artist, and friend of Lewis Carroll. The present work is the original design for a Christmas greetings card (of which a copy is supplied with this lot). (1)
