A French Louis XV style ormolu mantel clock, Raingo Freres, late 19th century, the eight-day bell striking movement with silk suspension and stamped with manufacturer‘s trademark to backplate, with gilt scroll centred Roman numeral enamel cartouche dial in a waisted elaborate assymetric scroll cast case with applied dragon to apron and on integral scroll feet, 34cm high.
A French mahogany and gilt metal mounted commode, in Louis XVI style by Maxime Secrtant, Paris, circa 1900, with veined yellow marble top above three short drawers and cupboards, on turned legs, the back stamped M.SECRETANT above interlinked monogram MS, 106cm high, 165cm wide, 62cm deep. Maxime Secretant established his workshop at 74, rue Amelot, Paris towards the end of the 19th century, where he produced fine quality furniture in the 18th century style. For some time he worked in association with his half-brother Léon Duval, who had been an apprentice with Gervais Durand, the well known ébéniste. Due to economic pressures, Secretant was forced to sell the contents of his workshop by auction at L’Hôtel Drouot on 26 November 1935.
