A FINE RUSSIAN SILVER-GILT AND CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL KOVSH, (19th century), struck with makers mark of Khlebnikov, Moscow and dated 1874, 88 standard, of traditional boat shaped form with flattened leaf shape handle, enamelled to the exterior with green, blue and red enamels with turquoise flower heads, the rim with a row of lappets and the edges enhanced with twisted wire borders, the interior centred with a concentric medallion, raised on three circular ball feet. 12.75cm long Khlebnikov was an Imperial Russian jewellery firm, founded in c.1867 by Ivan Khlebnikov. The workshop relocated from St. Petersburg to Moscow in 1871 and remained in business until the Russian revolution.

A Silver and Cut-Glass Kovsh MAKER’S MARK OF IVAN KHLEBNIKOV, MOSCOW, 1899–1907, 84 STANDARD Length 50 cm.Of traditional elongated shape, the body in colourless cut-glass with octagon and diamond pattern, the silver rim chased with a swirl scroll ornament, the front with a finely chased Bogatyr leaning over his shield, the scrolled handle with applied floral decoration centring a red gemstone.
