ADDITIONAL CONDITION REPORT INFORMATION SEE BOTTOM OF DESCRIPTION W. Morley mahogany and brass camera, with two plate backs measuring 5.25 x 7.75 inches, together with a collection of unrelated mahogany camera accessories including nine plate backs of various sizes, three stereo viewers, six lenses of differing sizes, also two Ensign 'All distance' camera and a Kodak Six-20 Brownie C. The Morley camera measures 22cm x 30cm extended.Condition report: The Morley camera and equipment are in fair order, a clean and polish would make them look more presentable. Close inspection reveals signs of a regular working life with working alterations, small damages and repairs to the wood work and metal work as well as typical scuffs dents and scratches. The lens ratchet only partially works in extending the lens, the glass is free of chips or cracks. The camera base board appears to be a period replacement. The only lenses with markings are as follows: Clement & Gilmer Paris Jules Vogel Philadelpia 16664 No.3 Hemispherique Rapide 5758 also reads 'Property of Maps' The Large chromed lens has a CM monogram and registered trade mark There is one lens with a white tag which the previous owner has written 'Detzval 5" 1875' The lens attached to the camera has no marks. Additional Condition report information: The pinion is missing from the rack and pinion mechanism of the unmarked 'Petzval' lens, and the large chromed lens. The Clement & Gilmer lens lacks the rear glass. The small black flat fish eye lens seen in the centre of the fifth image along with the yellow label on it has a crack to the glass.
Ransome, Arthur2 typed letters, signed, addressed to 'Howard', and written at Haverthwaite: in the first dated June 2. 1960, Ransome discusses Swedish publishers for his works, and experiences of the Adriatic coastline; in the second letter, dated May 5. 1961, Ransome refers to the publication of Swallowdale and discusses misprints in the proof copies of the work, followed by a brief request that "...the Penguins follow the text of, say, the 29th edition..." before Ransome laments his own typing skills; each letter 26 x 21cm; a note from the Alden Press is stapled to the reverse of the second letter; and a camera, said to have belonged to Arthur RansomeNote: The camera included in this lot, a Six-20 'Kodak' B, issued between 1937 and 1940, was given to the vendor by George Wren Howard, of the Jonathan Cape publishing house. Howard was chairman of the company and a good friend of Arthur Ransome, who is thought to have given him the camera.

A collection of assorted vintage ephemera, to include; Two Edwardian photograph albums (one musical) each with tooled cover, cigarette cards, a Kodak Duoflex camera, an Imperial Mark XII camera and others, four OXO tins assorted fishing reels, landing nets etc. CONDITION REPORT: There is no key or the musical album. Both albums only have a few pages where small images have been stuck down. Cigarette cards in one oxo tin only.
