A Chinese inscribed white jade hairpin, 18th century, finely carved in relief with a chi dragon amid tendrils and a two character inscription, the stone of even tone with some small inclusions, 6.3cm, reduced in lengthCONDITION: The hairpin has been shortened in length, otherwise in good condition.

dating: 1780 - 1800 provenance: India, Slightly curved, double-edged blade of a high quality, with central groove and ribbed tip, in finest dark damask. Raised tang and engraved in gold with floral motifs of a grained ground. Green jade grip, chiselled with floral motifs in bass-relief. Wooden scabbard covered with leather, with silver mounts, richly pierced and engraved with floral motifs. See a similar arm in 'Islamic and Oriental Arms and Armour' by Robert Hales, page 22 no. 54. length 38 cm.

Overall in good condition. Diamonds bright. Some tarnishing and scratches, no obvious repairs.

Peridot stone has several scratches and chips to the stones. Light scratches and marks to both rings but no obvious breakage. Marking to Chinese ring.
