He patented his design and granted the licence to IWC, who then in turn granted it to others.Manufacturers embraced the novel invention of a digital pocket watch. Rather than having a conventional dial with two hands pointing to minutes and hours, the design used rotating discs for hours and minutes. The digits showing the correct hour and minutes were revealed through two windows on the dial. Seconds were still recorded on a traditional subdial.The movements were sometime known as “jump hour” since the hour and minute discs “jump” to the next setting as they change. Taschenuhr/Pultuhr: Präzisionstaschenuhr, Deutsche Schuluhr, Meisterstück, gefertigt an der Uhrmacherfachschule Hamburg-Altona, Walter Helms Altona 1931: Ca. Ø49mm, eingepaßt in ein Nußbaum-Pultgehäuse, Boden beschriftet "Meisterstück-Handgefertigt", Präzisionsankerwerk mit Feinregulierung und Goldchatons, Rohwerk IWC, Platine signiert Walter Helms Altona 1931, sehr gut erhaltenes Emaillezifferblatt, Breguet-Zeiger, sehr guter Zustand, funktionstüchtig. Walter Helms, dessen Foto vor der Uhrmacherschule sich ebenfalls auf dem Boden des Gehäuses befindet, fertigte 1931 diese attraktive Uhr in der Art einer Borduhr, eingepasst in ein schönes, abgeschrägtes Pultgehäuse aus Nussbaum, das in seiner geneigten Lage ein perfektes Stück für jeden Schreibtisch oder eine Werkbank darstellt. In der Mitte befindet sich eine Vertiefung, in die der Meisterschüler seine handgefertigte Taschenuhr passgenau eingesetzt hat. Die Lünette ist verschraubt und gibt nach dem Abschrauben bei 3 Uhr eine Öffnung für den Aufzugsvierkant frei. Aufgezogen wird der Zeitmesser mit Hilfe eines Vierkantschlüssels, der in das Kopfende des Holzpults eingelassen ist. Die noch heute bestehende Hamburger Uhrmacherschule wurde 1878 gegründet. Sie ist eine der ältesten Uhrmacherschulen Deutschlands.
Taschenuhr: Äußerst ungewöhnliche IWC Goldsavonnette mit "Blinden-Zifferblatt", verkauft durch den schwedischen königlichen Uhrmacher Linderoth in Stockholm, mit Originalbox: Ca. Ø53mm, ca. 106g, 18K Rotgold, Sprungdeckel mit Gravur des schwedischen Königswappens, Gehäusenummer 320889, IWC-Gehäusepunze, Werksnummer 277977, IWC-Präzisionsankerwerk mit verschraubten Goldchatons und Feinregulierung, goldenes Blinden-Zifferblatt und sehr massive goldene Blinden-Zeiger, Originalbox, funktionstüchtig, kleine Druckstellen am Gehäuse. Es ist leider nicht bekannt, ob diese Rarität schon von IWC mit dem Blinden-Zifferblatt an Linderoth geliefert wurde, oder ob das Blatt eine Spezialanfertigung für einen Kunden von Linderoth war. Die Gravur des schwedischen Königswappens wurde mit Sicherheit erst von Linderoth in Auftrag gegeben. Der Hofuhrmacher Gustaf Wilhelm Linderoth wurde ausgebildet bei dem Uhrenfabrikanten und -Händler Johan Fredrik Cedergrén (1774-1839). Nach seiner Ausbildung bei Cedergrén wurde er der Werkmeister bei dem Uhrmacher C.H. Malmström. Er übernahm dessen Betrieb 1844, wurde zum Hofuhrmacher in Stockholm ernannt und bekam im Februar 1844 das Privileg, eine Uhrenfabrik in Stockholm zu errichten.

Lange & Söhne Glashütte No.279419, nummerngleich mit dem IWC Werk 279419, seltene Werksqualität nach Pat. 26139, gestuftes Emaillezifferblatt mit Verkäufersignatur Billian Fils Zürich, rotgoldene Zeiger, funktionstüchtig, guter Erhaltungszustand, eine von nur wenigen bekannten "Lange-IWC". Die Uhr und ihre vermutliche Geschichte ist ausführlich beschrieben in Chrono-Hype Ausgabe 3, S.26+27, Stefan Muser/Dr. David Seyffer, Kurator des IWC Museums, und Reinhard Reichel, ehemals Kurator des Glashütter Uhrenmuseums (Quelle:https://www.cortrie.de/go/VZ1). Demnach wurde diese Uhr ursprünglich mit einem Goldgehäuse an die Firma Billian Fils Zürich geliefert. Es wird angenommen, dass dieses Goldgehäuse später eingeschmolzen wurde. Im Lange-Archiv finden sich 5 nachweisbare Einträge, dass Lange & Söhne für vorliegende IWC-Werke Gehäuse angefertigt hat. Hier scheint es sich also um ein 6. Exemplar dieser Lange-Uhren mit Fremdwerken zu handeln, eine absolute Rarität!
