LARGE ""LINDY"" GLIDER. This toy reminds one of an Ultralight plane one would have constructed in their backyard. A central framework with a wing houses the pilot sitting front and center. Manufactured in the 1930s by Hubley of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the plane is enameled in deep red with a yellow wing with the pilot is attired in a green jumpsuit. Tail section is embossed ""Detroit Gull"" and the wing embossed ""Lindy Glider"". Toy retains original rubber tires mounted to iron hubs and a pull string and ball attached to front end. An elusive toy and seldom found complete and with original finish, especially retaining the Hubley decal on the tail section. SIZE: 11"" wingspan x 10"" l. CONDITION: Overall very fine plus original finish with no damage or repairs to iron castings. 1-13994
HUBLEY ""AMERICA"" TRI-MOTOR AIRPLANE. The largest of any of the cast iron airplanes manufactured by the various toy companies. Huge in size with a 17"" wingspan, the toy features a pair of pilots in an open cockpit. When the toy is pulled along the ground, the three propellers spin by means of pulleys and springs. The toy is in excellent all original condition except the two front rubber tires. An interesting feature is the wing is almost always cast aluminum and not iron. Most likely this was done to lighten the load so the youth could effectively play with this toy. SIZE: 17"" wingspan x 13"" l. CONDITION: Exceptional original finish to the paint with minimal overall uniform chipping. Still retains strong nickel finish to propellers and wheel hubs. Original brass springs for pulleys are intact and these particular elements are usually missing. 1-13999
FIVE SMALL CAST IRON AIRPLANES. Lot includes a Hubley blue Giro plane with nickel-plated propellers at front and top with white rubber tires, a red monoplane with nickel-plated propeller and white rubber tires, a gray six-engine plane with red wings and motor and marked ""DOX"" with nickel-plated tires, a red single-wing plane with nickel-plated rotary engine and wheels and a Ford tri-motor blue plane with white rubber tires. SIZE: Largest is 4-1/2"" l. CONDITION: All paint is original averaging fair to good plus. There are no cracks, breaks or chips in the casting. White rubber tires are good. 1-13924-5
TWO HUBLEY CAST IRON CYCLES. First is a scarce armored Indian bike with Hubley marked tires and chrome spoke wheels. Retains original police driver and passenger. Tank has full gold decal reading ""Indian"". Front cast armored section would bring this into possible military realm. Second motorcycle is light green with white rubber tires with tank reading ""Harley Davidson"". Rider has moveable head. Cycle shows two headlights and siren at front. SIZE: 8-1/2"" l. CONDITION: First toy has no breaks, cracks or chips on casting; original tires are good; all original paint averages good. Second toy is all original including white rubber tires; paint averages good plus; tires show deterioration. 1-13721
THREE CAST IRON VEHICLES. Lot includes a 9"" Arcade Greyhound cruiser bus with black rubber tires, a 7-1/2"" blue GMC Greyhound bus with white rubber tires and a very nice 6-1/2"" red streamlined Hubley race car with nickel-plated wheels. CONDITION: Smaller Greyhound bus has fair paint. Larger bus and race car have very good paint. 1-13924-6
EIGHT MEDIUM TO LARGE CAST IRON VEHICLES. 1) 9"" Hubley Bell Telephone truck with Mack ""C"" cab design. Truck includes nickel-plated ladders and tow mechanism. 2) 10"" Arcade coal dump truck with six white rubber tires. Also marked ""Mack"". 3) 11"" Hubley steam pumper fire engine with nickel-plated driver and wire wheels. 4) 10-1/2"" Skoglund & Olson bus with driver and white rubber tires. 5) 9"" Hubley 10-wheel steam shovel marked ""General"". Mack ""C"" cab design with ten white rubber tires. 6) 10-1/2"" Arcade mechanical dump truck with nickel-plated driver. 7) 12"" Arcade mechanical army dump truck with six white rubber tires. 8) 20"" early horse-drawn ladder truck with two firemen and three horses. CONDITION: #1 has heavy paint loss with original tires. #2 has a replaced driver and tires, dump mechanics not working. #7 has a replaced driver, paint is fair. The remaining items average good plus condition unless otherwise noted. 1-13923
