Cricket - ‘Worcestershire C.C. 1894’. Large early sepia photograph of the Worcestershire players seated and standing in rows, wearing blazers and caps, with handwritten printed title to lower border of mount. Seated to centre of middle row is P.H. Foley (Secretary). Some players possibly identified as E.G. Bromley-Martin, J.B. Fereday, G.F. Wheldon, W.H.W. Wilkes. The photographs laid down to photographer’s mount is a little faded but in generally good/very good condition, the mount with stain to right hand side, some loss and damage to extremities and general ageing. Excellent image Paul Foley served as Secretary and Treasurer of Worcestershire Cricket Club until his retirement in 1909 and was instrumental in establishing the Minor Counties Championship and the subsequent admission of the Club to the first-class County Championship in 1899

A Foley China `Cube` cup, cream jug and sugar bowl, decorated with a band of red, blue and yellow fruits and green leaves emanating from a black squiggly line, another cream jug decorated with horse drawn carriages titled `Dicken`s Days`, together with a small collection of decorative ceramics.

Born in Athlone in 1884, McCormack`s hometown is seen here from the far side of the Shannon looking over towards the twin towers of St. Peter`s and St. Paul`s church. By 1944, when the present work was executed, the artist`s husband had retired, giving his last public performance in support of the war effort the previous year. He died in Dublin in 1945 and 1949 Lily McCormack published a biography on her late husband entitled, I Hear You Calling Me.
