A George III silver swing handled sugar basket, Andrew Fogelberg and Stephen Gilbert, London 1789, slightly fluted navette form with reeded borders, moulded swing handle, engraved armorial for the Elers (or Eller) family, motto 'Gloria Virtutis Umbra' (Glory is the Shadow of Virtue), on oval pedestal foot, 6 3/8in. (16.2cm.) long, weight 10.5 tr.oz. * Condition: Top left letter of maker's mark poorly struck but clearly legible - other marks crisp. Armorial a little rubbed. No dents or dings. Good condition.
