Artwork size: 9.5x6", approx. Albert Arthur Powell MBE (1900 – 1982), known as Sandy Powell, was an English comedian best known for his radio work of the 1930s and for his catchphrase "Can you hear me, mother?" He first said this in a theatre in Coventry. Fifty years later, deciding he needed a rest from the business (he planned a cruise around the world with his wife, Kay White), he again said it in a Coventry theatre, for the last time.

Accompanied by a handwritten letter from Elsie Waters sharing some concern over the image. Artwork size: 9x5", approx. Elsie and Doris Waters were English comic actresses and singers who performed as a double act. They are remembered for creating the comedy characters Gert Daisy, and have been described as 'the most successful female double-act in the history of British music hall and variety.
