An early 19th century mahogany chest attributed to Gillows, of two short and three graduated long drawers, on turned feet, inscribed in pencil to the underside of the top right-hand drawer 'Thos Tasker, 1818'. W.3ft 4in. D.1ft 10in. H.2ft 10.5in.Thomas Tasker, the son of James Tasker, mariner of Lancaster was apprenticed to L.Redmayne, Cabinetmaker of Lancaster from 27 May 1816 and is recorded in the Gillows Estimate Sketch Books between 1815-1825. A related chest with differing drawer configuration (signed by the craftsman T.Dixon) was sold Christie's London, 14 September 2000, lot 158.
