The auction will begin at 2:00PM BST and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has become one of the most debated films of all time, bringing (at the time) nauseating, forceful horror to the screen with a focused realism that was new to mainstream cinema. Arguments raged as most councils and cinemas across the country banned its release, with only a handful of cinemas eventually bowing to public demand and showing the film. The extremely limited release resulted in two versions of a poster being produced (both of which are incredibly rare): an X certificate for "LONDON" cinemas and an X certificate for "LOCAL". The example offered here is from a "LOCAL" screening. With a design by FEREF unique to the British release, it features one of the horror genre's most memorable images from perhaps the most influential cult horror film of the modern era.40" x 30" (102 x 76 cm)Condition: Fine-Folded with handling and edge wear with multiple pinholes in each corner.
