A Phoebe Stabler for Ashtead Pottery "Madonna" figure, standing in long blue robes cradling a babe in arms, on a painted octagonal base, painted marks to base and No'd M34, 24 cm high CONDITION REPORTS General wear, dirt, crazing all over. The blue robes are patchy in places including a finger print beneath the glaze, and there is a small rough edge on the left side of her robes by her face.

A pottery model of a monkey by Donald Gilbert (1900-1961), modelled seated on rectangular plinth, covered in a matt blue and crystalline glaze impressed mark, paper label to base 24cm. high Donald Gilbert, the son of the sculptor Walter Gilbert, studied at the Birmingham Central School of Art, the Royal College of Art and the Royal Academy. He also produced ceramic designs for Ashtead Pottery.
Donald Gilbert (1900-1961) A bronze sculpture of a crouching monkey, raised on a stepped variagated stone plinth base, signed in the bronze `D. Gilbert 1920`, (plinth repaired) 29cm high overall Donald Gilbert was a sculptor and artist. He had studied at the Birmingham Central School of Art, The Royal College of Art and The Royal Academy. His works include busts of John Logie Baird (on display at the National Portrait Gallery, London) and Edward Elgar at the Guildhall Worcester. He also designed many wares for the Denby Pottery and Ashtead Pottery.
