FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VIII: JASON TAKES MANHATTAN - Mario Kirner Collection: Screen-matched Head and Arm ApplianceScreen-matched head and arm appliance from the production of Rob Hedden's slasher sequel Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. The unique mottling and paint marks applied to this head cowl match the one seen on Jason (Kane Hodder) when he was stabbed in the eye by Rennie (Jensen Daggett), and in behind-the-scenes photographs. Both appliances are made of foam latex applied to canvas. The head cowl is presented on a production-made head cast of Hodder (who plays Jason), which is affixed to a glass base. It features a wound along the left jaw - referencing the famous propeller cut from Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives - and green residue from the scene where Jason is splashed with waste water. The cowl also has metal hooks at the back of the neck for attaching to the undersuit. The arm is the only surviving arm of two made for production. Both pieces exhibit extensive deterioration from age, as the foam latex has dried out and become very fragile. Dimensions (head): 40 cm x 40 cm x 34 cm (15 3/4" x 15 3/4" x 13 1/2")Additional Provenance:This lot comes from the personal collection of Friday the 13th collector and historian Mario Kirner. This lot comes from the Friday the 13th Props Museum collection of Mario Kirner. The Museum was created as a private collection that showcased not only Jason's iconic hockey mask, but also a number of other movie props, costumes and additional materials that were used during the production of the Friday the 13th movies. An avid contributor in the screen-used prop and costume collecting field for more than 20 years, Mario Kirner has been a dedicated in his work and efforts to help to transform what was once a niche hobby into an popular culture phenomenon. Mario is not just a collector, but a true historian and curator of all things Jason Voorhees and Friday the 13th, also publishing a book dedicated to showcasing the museum's content and their stories.
