A late 19th century air meter (anemometer) no.1828 within a fitted pine, lidded box with paper label dated 19/5/82. Condition Report: The box is generally tired. A split to the lid and the hinges are broken. The meter is scratched and tarnished. The vanes move well, however, when moving them nothing moves on the dial so may not be in working order.

An airspeed indicator from the Zeppelin LZ128 in the form of an anemometer. The cup vanes pivoted between two discs on a short stem to the ball shaped body and dial, graduated 0-10 (10-20) and marked “m/s bei 1 Minute Messzeit” with maker’s name “Georg Rosenmuller, Dresden N6.” Black enamel finish overall. Overall height 170mm including modern purpose made brass base. GC. Plate.16

Souvenir of the German Battleship Graf Spee, sunk off Montevideo 17th December 1939 - a brass instruction plate from the Anemometer (wind gauge) which was mounted in the fire control station with typed note of history (given by Lord Mountbatten to the son of his steward). Lots 9-26 belonged to Edward Moncur the steward to Earl Mountbatten of Burma who worked at Broadlands - the Earl`s country seat for twenty years. Lord Mountbatten also encouraged Edward Moncur`s son`s interest in stamp collecting by giving him stamps and envelopes from all over the world
