1792 and 1795 silver medals to John Kinchela , later Attorney General of New South Wales

Large 55mm silver medal awarded by The Historical Society of The University of Dublin on 24th June 1795" to "Mr John Kinchela", and a smaller 40mm silver medal of "The Junior Historical Society, T.C.D." to same recipient. Rare 18th century Trinity College medals.John Kinchela (1774-1845) was born at Kilkenny, he received a B.A., LL.B., and LL.D, from Trinity College Dublin. He was mayor of Kilkenny in 1819. In 1824-25 he was Commissioner of Inquiry into The State of Captured Negroes. He fell into debt due to his generosity and in 1829 was recommended by the Marquess of Ormonde for a position with the Colonial Office. He was appointed Attorney General of New South Wales in 1830 and served until 1837. He held a few subsequent posts, retired in 1840 and died in 1845.
