1913: Royal Irish Regiment officer`s helmet

1878 home service pattern black cloth helmet by Hawkes & Co. London. With original fittings including Royal Irish Regiment gilt metal officer`s helmet plate. Original paper label internally giving owner`s details and date 7 February 1913. Complete with jappaned tin case with corresponding owner`s name C. B. Gibbons Esq. Royal Irish Regt." Second Lieutenant Charles Barry Gibbons of the 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Regiment was killed in action on 24 August 1914 during the opening exchanges of the First World War. He was the son of Lt. Col. James Barry Gibbons and Aimee Annie Gibbons, of London.
