"Period Third Reich / Battle of Britain. Staffelkapitan Horst Tietzen`s mess schappesbeaker, posthumously engraved and presented to his family after K.I.A over the Thames Estuary 18-8-1940. Silver, with contemporaneous engraving (trans) "H ptm. Tietzen, our congratulations for your 10th aerial victory" and "Molders 5 / JG51 25-7-1940" O / A, height 4.3, age toned, Provenance: Obtained direct from the family in the 1970`s, sold through a provincial auction, (Note to lot) Horst Tietzen`s wing of ME 109 fighters were in almost continuous action during the famous battle. With a total of 20 kills Tietzen was posthumously awarded the knights cross on 20-8-1940, some basic post-war research accompanies this lot "
