An 1821 pattern light cavalry officer’s sword, slightly curved, fullered blade 33”, by Wilkinson, no 25456 (for 1883) on backstrap, etched with crowned VR cypher within scrolled fenestrated panels, regulation steel hilt with sideloop, knucklebow and 2 sidebars, stepped pommel, chequered backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in an associated steel scabbard marked 1/38 MX/RV (dented) with a post 1902 RN officer’s leather waistbelt and slings. GC (light pitting to hilt and scabbard).
