A good late 1796 pattern light cavalry officer's service sword c 1820, plain, curved pipe backed blade 34½", double edged at tip, retaining much original polish, regulation steel stirrup guard with broad langets, plain pronounced forward sloping pommel and backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its steel scabbard (one hanging ring missing), with an article from the London Antique Arms Fair Guide showing an almost identical sword made by G S Reddell, Piccadilly, London. Very Good Condition, with a pleasing patina to the hilt (light pitting and one or two shallow dents to scabbard) Plate 28
