Antoinette Holland (Dutch, 1921 - 2011) Still life with fruit and vases, oil on board, signed dated 1977, 36.5 x 44.5 cm, framed Notes Antoinette Holland Haggenburg was born in Arnhem, Holland, she was the second of thirteen brothers and sisters. Her father was the headmaster of the local school. Antoinette began painting at the age of nine, inspired by her grandfather who was also an artist. She spent many hours painting and drawing with her grandfather, he was her first teacher. Painting was Antoinette's passion, during her life, she painted more than a thousand oil paintings. 1938 - 1943 Academy of Art and Design, Arnhem, Holland 1947 Antoinette travelled to England to learn English and then on to South Africa 1957 Married Alexander Holland and moved to Tunbridge Wells 1959 Birth of daughter Rosalind 1965 - 1973 Attended art classes at the Adult Education Centre, Tunbridge Wells. Teacher: Morris Weidman 1974 - 1987 Member of the Royal Tunbridge Wells Art Society, The Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells 1987 Moved to Spain were she remained until her death in November 2011 SOLO EXHIBITIONS 1975 First solo exhibition, Adult Education Centre, Tunbridge Wells 1979 Tunbridge Wells Museum, Library and Art Gallery, Tunbridge Wells 1981 Royal Tunbridge Wells Art Society, The Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells 1983 University of Arnhem, Holland 1984 Cultureel Centrum, Arnhem, Holland 1985 Trinity Art Centre, Tunbridge Wells 1989 British Royal Society Club, Benalmadena, Spain 1992 Hotel Don Carlos, Marbella, Spain 1995 Casa de la Cultura Pablo Ruiz Picasso, Benalmadena, Spain 1996 Clinica Buchinger - Wilhelmi, Marbella Spain 1998 PYR Hotel , exhibition centre, Marbella, Spain GROUP EXHIBITIONS During her life she has participated in numerous group exhibitions, many of which include the above mentioned locations of Tunbridge Wells. General

For the Purpose of this sale, the Auctioneer shall be deemed to be the agents for both the vendor and the purchaser and shall not be considered or held responsible for any fault on the part of either the vendor or the purchaser.

Bidding

The highest bidder will be the purchaser.  No persons shall retract a bid and the advance on each lot shall be determined by the auctioneer.  The auction creates a contract between the sucessful purchaser and the auctioneer/vendors the conclusion of which is the payment of the purchasers account.  Failure to pay such an account is a criminal offence and may result in prosecution or court action for recovery. 

Bidding Dispute

Should any dispute arise between two or more bidders, the lot may, at the discretion of the auctioneer, be re-offered for sale or a purchaser declared the auctioneers decision being final.

Commission Bids

The auctioneer may accept commission bids in advance of the sale to or above the lower estimate.  In the case of two or more successful equal bids being recieved, the auctioneers reserve the right to declare the first recieved the purchase.

Buyer's Premium

All lots are subject to a Buyers Premium on the hammer price.  The minimum buyers premium is £4 per lot solf under £20 or 18% including WAT.

Online Purchasers Charge

Lots purchased online are subject to an additional charge for this service to the sum of 3% of the hammer price plut VAT.

Payment

In completing the bidders registration and providing your credit card details and unless alternative arrangements are agreed with the auctioneer, you authorise us to take payment for sucessful bids on the hammer price plus all costs ans fees including, but not necessarily, restricted to buyers premium, credit card charge and online purchasers charge.

Third Party Liability

Neither the auctioneers nor the vendors shall be responsible for any loss or damage or injury accasioned to or sustained by any person on the premises before, during or after the sale, no matter how the same may arise.

Storage

Goods not removed immediately may be removed by the auctioneers to a storage area.  The auctioneers accept no responsibility for any damage which may occur as a result.  The auctioneer also reserves the right to make transport and storage charges at their discretion.  A charge of £15 plut VAT per day and reasonable transport costs may be charged.

Electrical Goods

All electrical goods are sold as antiques only and must be tested by a qualified electrician prior to use.

Auctioneers Margin Scheme

Lots marked with a dagger (f) in the catalogue will be required to pay VAT on both the hammer price and the Buyers premium.

It shall be deemed that all purchasers have read and understood these conditions and agree to be bound by them prior to bidding for any lot.
