Description
A late 18c eight day longcase clock with associated 11"" arched brass dial signed John Humphreys, Trapston and having silvered dial centre and scroll spandrels and an eagle boss in the arch. The movement is of standard four pillar rack striking pattern with anchor escapement and is contained in a stained oak case with arched hood surmounted by a flat caddy and swan neck and shell carving. The hood has attached plain columns flanking the dial and the long trunk door has a wavy top. The base is plain with bracket feet, 85"" tall overall.
