A 20 BORE SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK PISTOL BY BARBER, NEWARK, CIRCA 1775-80, SILVER MAKER`S MARK JA with three-stage turn-off cannon barrel numbered `1` beneath, engraved breech numbered en suite, signed beneath the pan, stamped with London view and proof marks and Foreigner`s mark, inscribed `Newark` on top, engraved cock, figured walnut butt carved with a raised moulding about the tang and behind the lock, silver mounts cast and chased in low relief comprising trophy-of-arms side-plate, vacant escutcheon, grotesque mask butt-cap, and engraved steel trigger-guard 35.5cm; 14in
