A 14 BORE FLINTLOCK PISTOL BY DAVID WYNN, CIRCA 1720-28 with three-stage cannon barrel engraved with a band of foliage over the breech, stamped with the barrelsmith`s, London view and proof marks beneath, engraved separate tang, signed rounded border engraved action (signature feint), swelling figured walnut butt carved with a leafy moulding about the tang, inlaid with silver wire scrolls and pellets, silver mounts cast in low relief, comprising dragonesque side-plate, grotesque mask butt-cap and escutcheon engraved with the owner`s crest (worn, perhaps a goat`s head erased), with separate iron trigger-guard also forming the rear ramrod-pipe (the steel parts with light pitting, cleaned), and steel ramrod 33.5cm; 13 1/4in

David Wynne was made Free of the Gunmakers` Company by redemption in 1715.
