A RARE CASED SET OF FOUR PERCUSSION PISTOLS, COMPRISING A PAIR OF 28 BORE D.B. IRISH PERCUSSION TRAVELLING PISTOLS BY TRULOCK & SON, 9 DAWSON STREET, DUBLIN AND A PAIR OF 28 BORE PERCUSSION TRAVELLING PISTOLS BY THOMAS K. BAKER, LONDON, NO. 283, MID-19TH CENTURY the first pair each with etched twist sighted barrels inscribed with the maker`s address on the rib, engraved case-hardened breeches, engraved case-hardened tang, signed engraved flush-fitting bolted locks decorated with border ornament and scrolls, engraved hammers decorated en suite, highly figured walnut half-stock, slender butt cut with a panel of chequering on each side, engraved blued-steel trigger-guard with pineapple finial, engraved blued butt-cap, blued stirrup ramrod, vacant silver escutcheon, and silver barrel bolt escutcheons, and retaining some original finish throughout; the second pair each with sighted barrels engraved with a band of foliage at the muzzles, fitted with a screw-in plug at the breeches, scroll-engraved side-hammer bolted action signed on the top (one safety-catch and three nipples expertly replaced), finely chequered numbered walnut butts, engraved steel trigger-guard and butt-cap, the latter fitted with a circular trap, vacant silver escutcheon, and with traces of finish throughout: in contemporary mahogany case with brass carrying handle (key escutcheon detached), the first pair contained in the top layer and the second within a drawer operated by a dummy vertically-sliding shank lock, and complete with some accessories including blued bullet mould, turnscrew, Sykes nickel flask, nipple wrench and brass cap tin the first: 23.5cm; 9 1/4in and the second 20.5cm; 8in
