A Tortoiseshell Veneered Table Cabinet, circa 1840, with pewter wire stringing throughout, the upswept "caddy" top centred by a silvered metal rectangular plaque engraved with an earl's coronet over the initials "AF 1936", the lid hinged to reveal triple open compartments, the two frontal rectangular hinged doors enclosing three similarly fitted long drawers with turned mother of pearl mushroom handles, the door panels embossed with classical temple facades, edged in ivory, with petal whorled mushroom side handles, conforming bun feet, {34cm by 30cm by 22.2cm} (one door off its hinges, small veneer losses) . *The initials are, by repute, those of Lord Halifax.
