SALEROOM NOTICES FOR THIS SALE:
Lot 3: 'The Lot is also now offered with two original photographs of the recipient. The first is c.1910 and features the recipient in a tropical setting, wearing white Service Dress and the Queen's South Africa Medal with three clasps, the Turkish Order of Osmania and the Khedive's Sudan Medal 1896-1908 with one clasp. The recipient's family record confirms service as "Civil Surgeon and Honorary Bimbashi, Egyptian Army, Khedives Sudan Medal 1896-1908 with Bahr el Ghazal 1900-02 bar." It has been brought to our attention that the recipient does not appear to feature on the rolls of the two Khedive's Medals offered, perhaps owing to his civilian status. Either way, the Lot is sold as viewed.'
Lot 47: 'The Lot is now offered with a copy of the press article regarding the Military Medal to Sergeant Forrester, as featured in the Dunfermline Press, Thursday 17th November 2016.'
Lot 53: 'It has been brought to our attention that the recipient was not in receipt of the Defence Medal and does not appear to feature on the roll for the 1911 Coronation Medal. The Lot as such is sold as viewed.'
Lot 70: 'The Lot is now offered with the accompanying documentation to Warrant Officer I Class John Edward Bromley; the Mention in Despatches Certificate, the Soldier's Record and Pay Book, the Army Certificate of Service, Army Education Certificates and numerous letters relating to military and civil service. PROVENANCE: Glendining, July 1995'
Lot 91: ‘Staff Sergeant L.E. Cherryman served with the Indian Army Corps of Clerks, not the Indian Army Catering Corps as printed.’
