A kettle hat in German 15th Century style,late 19th/early 20th Century formed in one piece, with broad down-turned brim with an inwardly turned roped edge, bulbous skull rising to a low comb, and encircled with a row of lining rivets at the base 22.8cm; 9in high Similar helmets were made by the German armourer Ernst Schmidt of Munich in the late 19th and early 20th Century.
