A GROUP OF FIVE CHINESE AND SOUTHEAST ASIAN BUDDHISTIC AND HINDU ITEMS, 19TH/20TH CENTURY, each of diminutive size and possibly for a home altar, comprising a 19th century Qing Dynasty painted earthenware Buddhistic lion with grimacing expression, scrolling mane and tail while seated on a rectangular base, enclosing three yellow silk ribbon wrapped prayer scrolls, height: 5 3/4"; a Balinese gilt and colorfully painted carved wood figure of Garuda, height: 7 3/4"; a bronze Hindu standing figure of the goddess Ganga wearing traditional attire and arms held out to side, height: 4"; two antique Tibetan/Nepalese brass, copper, silver, and steel mounted stiff animal hide tinder/flint pouches "chuckmucks," each with brass suspension loops or handle and one with a pierced floral silver mounted flap above a curved brass X's band and conforming steel blade striker, length: 4 1/4"; one with a pierced brass mounted flap of overlapping scrolled panels flanking a stylized Taotie mask over curved brass X's band and steel blade striker, length: 5". Provenance: Estate of David E. Brauer, Houston, Texas. Condition: The Buddhistic lion is in good antique condition with patches of surface paint loss, expected small nicks/chips along base, normal surface buildup including candle smoke, the ribbon wrapped scrolls were not opened and look to be at least vintage if not antique; the Balinese Garuda has small chips on wingtips, shrinkage cracks, and normal surface wear with buildup; the bronze Ganga figure is in good shape with expected light wear and surface buildup with darkening in crevices throughout; the two "chuckmucks" are in good antique condition with normal surface wear, dings, small bent areas, and polish residue throughout. 4. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the purchaser. In the event of any dispute between bidders, the auctioneer shall have absolute discretion either to determine the successful bidder, in which event his determination shall be final or to re-offer and re-sell the article in dispute. If any dispute arises after the sale, Simpson Galleries' sale record shall be conclusive as to who was the purchaser, the amount of the highest bid, and in all other respects.

5. Floor bids take precedence over any other bids regardless of date or time placed. The live auction console does not differentiate between left bids and live bids; therefore, the date and/or time a particular bid is placed has no bearing on which bid is accepted by the auctioneer. Any bidding service offered by Simpson Galleries, (whether it be absentee, phone, or live bidding), is done so as a courtesy. Simpson Galleries is not responsible for errors or for the failure to execute any bid for any reason.

6. No properties purchased during auction may be removed prior to end of session.

7. Defects are not necessarily noted in the catalogue.

9. All shipping charges will be borne by the successful bidder. Purchased property must be collected within 14 days following the auction. Property not collected within 14 days of the close of the auction will be subject to a storage fee equal to 1.5% of the hammer price per day. Property not collected within 60 days of the close of the auction will be considered abandoned and any monies paid to Simpson Galleries by the purchaser will be considered liquidated damages.

10. A premium of 22% of the purchaser's bid will be added and is payable as part of the total price.
